TECHNICAL projects
Some projects demand more than experience. They require millimetre-level precision, in-house survey capability and technology that simply isn't available through most contractors. Elite Roads' 3D machine control technology makes the difference on technically complex surfaces: athletics tracks, highway rehabilitation, motorcycle circuits and live tram corridors where standard methods fall short. These are the projects that showcase what we do best.
Highway & Major Road Rehabilitation
-
Elite Roads has completed full-depth highway rehabilitation and road maintenance projects across Victoria, managing every stage from pre-construction survey through to final verification. On the Hume Highway in Tallarook, our team completed a 1.3km rehabilitation across three locations over 12 weeks, removing over 28,988 tonnes of existing road material, profiling to 480mm depth with 3D precision and placing 16,630 tonnes of dense-grade asphalt using 3D-equipped Vogele pavers. Our in-house survey and machine control team managed the full technical workflow, including 24-hour lane closures, with zero incidents.
Motorsport & Racing Circuits
-
Elite Roads has completed resurfacing and rehabilitation works on motorsport and racing circuits across Victoria, where surface precision and consistency are critical to rider safety and competition compliance. At the Broadford State Motorcycle Complex for example, our team conducted a detailed circuit pick-up, identified problem areas with the client and completed 7,500m2 of Leica 3D profiling and 500 tonnes of asphalt resurfacing. The track was back in operation ahead of schedule.
Athletics Tracks
-
Elite Roads has resurfaced athletics tracks and competition facilities across Victoria to international accreditation standards. At the Sandringham Athletics Track for example, our Leica 3D-controlled profiler and asphalt paver delivered 835 tonnes of asphalt surfacing with millimetre accuracy across the full facility.
Tram Corridor Works
-
Elite Roads has delivered asphalt paving works within live tram corridors across Melbourne, operating under strict traffic management requirements and to VicRoads specifications. Our work on Nicholson Street included paving on the newly reconstructed Route 96 tram track, one of Melbourne's busiest lines carrying more than 345,000 passengers a week, completed with minimal disruption to the surrounding community.
Sports Courts & Recreational Surfaces
-
Elite Roads has completed asphalt and surfacing works across a wide range of sports courts and recreational facilities throughout Victoria, from indoor courts to full facility reconstructions. At the Doveton Indoor Sports Courts for example, our 3D-equipped profilers corrected fall issues in the existing concrete base, achieving surface accuracy that traditional methods could not guarantee. At the Ballan Recreation Reserve, our team completed a full reconstruction of the netball and tennis facilities including demolition, drainage, earthworks, asphalt, line marking, lighting and acrylic surfacing, delivering four tennis courts and two netball courts.
Bridge Deck Resurfacing
-
Resurfacing a bridge deck is a fundamentally different challenge to standard road works. The surface sits on a structural deck rather than ground, demanding precise control of asphalt depth, load distribution and material specification. Elite Roads has completed multiple overnight resurfacing projects on the West Gate Bridge, one of Melbourne's most iconic and heavily trafficked crossings. Operating under live traffic conditions with strict safety protocols, our crew delivered full-service pavement rehabilitation within single shifts, including precision profiling, asphalt paving to VicRoads specifications and crack sealing.
Airport Works
-
Elite Roads carries out regular asphalt paving, profiling, car park resurfacing and runway maintenance works at major Victorian airports including Melbourne Tullamarine Airport and Avalon Airport. Operating within active airport environments requires strict compliance with aviation safety protocols and precise coordination around live operations. Elite Roads has built a long-standing presence across both facilities, delivering works to the exacting standards these environments demand.
THE TECHNOLOGY BEHIND THE WORK
The precision delivered across these projects comes down to one capability that sets Elite Roads apart. Our in-house 3D machine control technology guides equipment with robotic accuracy, eliminating rework, reducing material waste and achieving results that cannot be replicated through traditional methods.
Where other contractors rely on manual approaches, our survey and machine control team manages the full technical workflow from pre-construction modelling through to post-work verification. From highway rehabilitation to indoor sports courts, the technology adapts to the project.
-
3D machine control uses robotic total stations and GPS to guide paving and profiling equipment to exact design specifications automatically. On technically demanding surfaces like bridge decks, athletics tracks and highway rehabilitations, that accuracy eliminates rework and ensures the finished result meets design intent the first time.
-
Yes. Elite Roads operates its survey, machine control, paving, profiling and transport capabilities entirely in-house. This means one point of accountability across the full project, tighter coordination between crews and no delays from third party scheduling. It is how we consistently deliver complex projects on time and within budget.
-
Yes. Our 3D machine control technology is equally effective on specialist surfaces including athletics tracks, motorcycle circuits, bridge decks, tram corridors and indoor sporting courts. If a surface demands precision and cannot tolerate error, we have the technology and experience to deliver it.
